Barcelona fans confronted an angry Neymar over his €222m move to PSG

After weeks of intense speculation, Barcelona forward Neymar is finally set to complete his world-record breaking move to Paris Saint-Germain.

On Wednesday, Barcelona released a statement declaring: "The player Neymar Jr, accompanied by his father and agent, has informed FC Barcelona this morning of his decision to leave the club in a meeting held at the club’s offices.

"Faced with this position, the club has informed them they refer to the buy-out clause of his existing contract which as of 1 July totals €222million which will have to be deposited in its entirety."

That means the French heavyweights are going to have to pay a world record £199 million to secure the Brazilian and needless to say, Barcelona fans aren't taking it well.

It's hard for many people to understand why Neymar would want to leave one of the richest and most successful clubs in the world, but reports suggest he doesn't believe he will ever win the Ballon d'Or playing in Lionel Messi's shadow.

Although Neymar has won everything there is to win at Barcelona, the 25-year-old now fancies a new challenge and will link up with several other Brazilians in Paris.

Only he knows the true reason behind his decision at this point, but pictures emerging of Barcelona fans confronting him last week about the move suggest they certainly did not help.
As you can see from the images below, Neymar is being held back by his security team as a group of Barcelona fans shout abuse at him in the distance, via the Daily Mail.

On Wednesday, the teammate he is supposedly trying to escape sent a tribute message to the departing star on Instagram.
Posting a video to Instagram, Messi wrote: "It was an enormous pleasure to have shared all these years with you, friend.
'"I wish you luck in this new stage of your life. See you. I love you," Messi said
